Abstract
The article «EuroUnionBonds: Why Are We Proposing Them again?», \r\nby Romano Prodi and Alberto Quadrio Curzio, published in Il Sole 24 Ore \r\n(August 23, 2012), is reprinted below as it aroused great interest in Italy and \r\nabroad, steering the debate toward the use of gold reserves as collateral. This \r\nissue is now open and I believe that it will produce consequences of political \r\nand economic nature in the future of EU and EMU from the point of view \r\nboth of the use of gold and of the creation of a European fund whose assets \r\nshould be real (gold reserves, stocks of infrastructural network companies) \r\nand supplied by EMU Countries.
