Gli Unni: origini, storia e mito

Risultato della ricerca: Contributo in rivistaArticolo

Abstract

The analysis of M.Meier's volume allows us to highlight some research findings on the Huns, which seem to be consolidated; in agreement with the Author it is confirmed that: a) ther is no continuity between the Hsiung-nu and the Huns; b) he Hunnic empire does not fall into the category of shadow empires; c) the migratory movements of the Huns did not depend on climatic factors; d) there was no Doppelkoenigtum structure among the Huns; in disagreement with the Author I think that: a) there is no significant relationship between the dissolution of the Hunnic empire and the end of the Western Roman empire; b) the true unifier of the Hunnic dominion north of the Danube was Rua; c) there was no peace between the First and Second Hunnic Wars; d) the Second Hunnic War did not mark Attila's zenith, but revealed his military weakness, which was confirmed by the disastrous expeditions of 451/452
