The discipline on Mortuary Police and the organization and management of cemetery spaces touch upon a series of concrete aspects that concern the protection of the religious interests of the “faithful-citizen” at the time of death, as well as the structure of relations between public institutions and religious communities at local level. The recent enactment of the Lombardy regional law on mortuary police offers a food for thought on the critical aspects of the content and system of the sources of law in this area, but also on the opportunities that the regulatory framework - national and decentralized - can offer in this sector of ecclesiastical interest.
