Abstract
This essay examines the economic teachings activated at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences starting from its foundation in 1921 and up to the birth of the Faculty of Economics in 1947. The founders of the University, activating economic teachings in this Faculty, have the objective of proposing and disseminating an economic science interconnected with the other social sciences and linked to ethics; but also that of forming an elite that can cover operational roles in society. This is connected to the need to identify which teachers can carry out such defined objectives. The essay reviews the economic teachings provided by the Faculty, paying attention to the Professors and to the approach they give to teaching. It deepens the activity of the Institute of Economic Sciences, a specific training place, overall under the supervision of Francesco Vito, for economists who study and work at the Catholic University.
