Abstract
Since years, studies on urban sustainability policies have focused on the analysis of environmental externalities from other sectoral policies. On the contrary, rarely (quite never in Italy) the analysis has been made ‘in the opposite side’, that is in order to understand what are the externalities and, among others, the socio-economic impacts of environmental policies. Present paper aims to contribute to deepen this subject. Studies till now have shown that the effects of every policy need to be analysed on the basis of the different contexts. With this concern, about urban mobility, the introduction of urban road pricing schemes is studied (i.e. the pollution charge) in order to evaluate, not only the environmental effects, but also the socio-economic
impacts. Among these, the redistributive effects of environmental policies are carefully evaluated, that is, trying to understand the way ongoing policies affect different income groups.
