The Author presents labour policies and tools introduced by French Government in the last years in order to make labour markets more inclusive from a generational point of view, in a country with strong imbalances among social groups due to age and worsened in the context of crisis. Some case studies showing how firms (of large, medium and small size) have put into effect measures and tools foreseen by the law in their human resources development processes, promoting a management “by age”. In the last part of the paper, the Author comments the first results of policies realization, in order to understand benefits and weakness. Theory of reference concerning diversity management and social inclusion is derived from sociological and economic literature, but also from guidelines and recommendations of international agencies.
