This article is intended as an introduction to a miscellany about spoken German in Foreign Language Teaching/L2-classes. German spoken language features have been widely discussed in the last two decades and special attention has been paid to the results of research in this field. But features of spoken German are not included into L2-German teaching and most textbooks do not distinguish between written and oral language. They mostly consider orality in terms of literacy. After a brief discussion of the topic, the papers published in the volume are presented.
