Abstract
To make research relevant to practice it is not enough to investigate current issues but it is necessary to let
the data talk to practitioners engaged in the school context.
The researches dealing with distance learning have contributed to turn the spotlight on the school world
and, in addition to their scientific value, they have played, in a critical moment, a social and political
function. However, for the single school can be difficult to recognize itself in the "average data" and to use
with profit available data. The practice described in the paper combines research interest and training
intentionality with the aim of turn empirical research to the service of daily life in a specific school context.
In this perspective, local research becomes a lever for improvement not only through the knowledge it
produces but also (or perhaps above all) for the working method it makes experimenting, making the gain
extremely transferable over time and space
