Abstract
The essay intends to give an overview of the interlinkage between finance and innovation, how digital technologies are changing financial activities on a global scale, the opportunities and risks that they offer and the approaches of legislatures vis-à vis these new phenomena. Emphasis is placed on the actions taken by the competent authorities of the European Union and of Italy
