Abstract
The article aims at answering a question: why have Heidegger and Wittgenstein, during the age of the triumph of technique and science in all fields of human knowledge, criticized the classical and modern ways of thinking the concepts of sacred and divine? Moreover, why have they at the same time researched and proposed alternative ways of experiencing absolute and transcendence?\r\nThis writing is not simply an historical analysis of two of the most important authors of the XX century: it is an attempt to show how they conceive transcendence. Mystic – as an experience of the origins – meets philosophy, which is open to religion. The latter is not conceived as a specific topic, but as an original expression of the human being, which enables to understand the sense of transcendence. \r\nIn order to reach this goal, several considerations need to be taken into account. The first one is about the theoretical structure through which Heidegger and Wittgenstein conceive the relationship between philosophy and mystic. The second one aims at clarifying why the experience of transcendence always recalls the problem of absolute and its relationship with language.
