Abstract
The qualitative research investigates the business model adopted by an incubator located in Lombardy Region (Italy) and an accelerator belonging to Massachusetts (US).
The main results are ascribable to the following roles of incubators and accelerators: 1) intermediaries of knowledge 2) facilitators of internal and external networking 3) drivers of local economy development 4) innovation propagators in the entrepreneurial network
