Abstract

University pedagogy has recently become an object of interest and study (De Ketele, 2010). In particular, it is interesting to study how university professors are committed to the triple function assigned to them: teacher, researcher and actor capable of questioning and renewing the discipline for social utility. \ r\nOur research is based on interviews submitted to a sample of university professors recruited according to different academic roles, levels of service, and disciplinary areas. Each of them was asked for an interview on topics concerning both research, and teaching, and activities of institutional and social utility. \ r\nFrom this questioning, we can try to understand how professional commitment is structured in the intertwining of personal and institutional dimensions, by also considering their positions in these different roles.
