Abstract

We acquainted some steps of the overall trip for realizing an ambient intelligence capable of attuning with humans within the physical environment where is situated. We set up an enabling system for eliciting and exploiting particular emotional states and analyzed, both theoretically and experimentally, the main features of the dynamical system realizing this cooperation between human and machine. We pointed out that attuning is a process and that automatically labeling with emotional states the non verbal signals produced by human is a too ambitious goal. Rather we look for a cognitive system capable of managing the signals produced by humans within his emotional states, having the goal of efficiently perform a joint action with him. We provided some evidence of this process, but admit that many steps has to be done yet to really build this autonomous cognitive system.
