Abstract
through the entire corpus of tragedies by Emanuele Tesauro, the paper examines the relationship between the human disposition to work with words and a decision for the truth that every speech act should entail. For various reasons, the characters of Tesauro look like all losers in their relationship with the words, perhaps because each in their own way is limited in their ability to approach the truth.
