Abstract
The study analyzes student elections in Lebanese universities as a microcosm of the country’s broader political landscape. It examines the growing presence of secular and independent student movements challenging the dominance of traditional confessional parties. While these elections signal a shift in political engagement among Lebanese youth, the study argues that their impact remains limited within a system deeply rooted in sectarian structures. By exploring the dynamics of student activism, electoral strategies, and institutional resistance, the study highlights both the potential and the constraints of grassroots political change in Lebanon.
