Abstract
The essay examines the volume by Roberto Sani dedicated to the transformation of the figure and the historical experience of Filippo Neri, up to the construction of the image of the «holy educator», with its centrality in Catholic educational works from the second eighteenth century onwards. Through an extensive debate involving several voices, the worthy work of Filippo Neri is reviewed, both in the field of popular school and in that of social assistance.
