The responsibility for future generations requires a global ecological conversion. The environmental question urges the sciences, in particular pedagogy, to reflect on the relation between educability and technology, the search for well-being and for authenticity of lifestyles. Sustainability means to succeed in promoting a development model into which the effect of the actions taken by individuals in social and natural contexts, as well as the central role of persons in realising the present and future of life on Earth, are relevant. This essay presents a pedagogical interpretation with regard to the correlation between Higher Education and sustainability, with particular reference to integral ecology.
