Abstract
The methacholine challenge, which is used in the detection of bronchial hyperreactivity, may be also used to measure the amount of perceived dyspnea (quantified on a 10-cm visual analog scale) per one percent decrease of FEV1. This original method was applied to a cohort of travertine workers. Those with a history of asthmatic symptoms showed a larger perception of bronchospasm
