Abstract
The article describes evolutive patterns and biochemical correlations of plasma cholesterol after liver resection. Postoperative hypocholesterolemia may be simultaneously related to extent of surgical trauma, liver dysfunction, sepsis, hemorrhage, risk of poor prognosis. Its monitoring is an helpful adjunct in the clinical management of patients after liver resection.
