Abstract
The contributions in this section focus on attempting to answer the question of the extent to which the social and political changes of the late 11th century were reflected in or even driven by semantic and linguistic-stylistic upheavals. Language changes, reacts to social change, reflects it and, at the same time, contributes to constructing and reproducing social conditions in communication. ¹These findings from discourse theory have far-reaching consequences for the investigations of the section ‘Discourses and Public Sphere,’ considering that research on this era has attested to an intensification and consolidation of communication in which broader circles of society participated.
