Abstract
This chapter addresses the topic of disability in the workplace, advocating for a shift in perspective that challenges stereotypes, benevolent biases, and mechanisms of exclusion. Drawing on real-life cases and workers' narratives, it reveals how various forms of disrespect—ranging from explicit aggression to unintentional ignorance—still persist. The text emphasizes the need for an organizational culture based on listening, reasonable accommodation, and personal empowerment. The WHO's ICF model is highlighted for its view of disability as an interaction between individual and environment. “Training-through-listening” is proposed as a key tool to foster inclusion, well-being, and professional development.
