Abstract
The recent theological tendencies of Gianni Vattimo’s «weak thought» have singled out an «adversary» in the dialectic theology of Barthian origin. Barth’s thought, beginning from the Roemerbrief of 1922, asserts God’s absolute transcendence in respect to man and history. The kenotic event of God’s incarnation in Christ always finds a space in Barth, becoming more and important(but never exclusive) during the« dogmatic» evolution of his thought. «Weak thought» instead sets a sharp opposition between transcendence and kenosis, detecting only in the latter the authenticity of Christian speech and the origin of secular western thought.
