Abstract
Renata Boero is an artist who is best known for her ‘Chromograms’: large canvases, recovered from the port of Genoa, free from the loom, covered with natural materials, which renewed painting in the 1970s. However, not many people know that these works originate from his artist's books, or rather, from the ‘Brogliacci’, which present the canvas folded in book form. From these early works up to the ‘Cromolibri’, this volume deals with the main themes of Boero's art through a critical and at the same time biographical reading of his main artist's books. Books created following a precise stylistic ‘ritual’, immersing the various ‘pages’ in a programmed manner according to controlled times of immersion in the material and times of absence, of emptiness, in the fold, equally important in the ideally created score. A technique that the artist also studies and analyses from a symbolic point of view to explore the matter of colour, in the chemical properties of natural materials.
