De fide catholica ad regem persarum di Paolo Piromalli OP - un trattato cristologico inedito in lingua persiana

This article analyses the manuscript Vat. pers. 49, an original attempt to present the Catholic faith in the Persian language, within the parameters of thought of the Iranian intellectual elite and from the perspective of a highly educated 17th-century European clergyman. Experimenting with the freedoms of the Persian language and playing with the rich iconographic and poetic models of its literature, the author, Fra Paolo Piromalli, was a pioneer in the intellectual exchanges between the Persianate world and Europe in the 17th century.
