Abstract
The essay identifies some thematic and stylistic connections between
two extremely different poets in the Italian literature: Leopardi and d’Annunzio.
The analysis is particularly focused on "L’infinito", considered as an antecedent of "Alcyone"’s "Meriggio": the author challenges the traditional criticism of the «beatitudine panica» in d’Annunzio’s poem, underlining on the contrary its dismal atmosphere inspired by some passages from Schopenhauer’s and Nietzsche’s
works.
