Abstract
An unpublished memorandum from the Archive of the Congregation for Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs provides the opportunity to take an overall view on matters concerning Catholic Church governance at the beginning of the Pius X’s pontificate. The document, which was probably inspired by the Pontiff himself, focuses on key issues such as the codification of Canon Law, the institution of a unique Catechism for the world-wide Catholic Church, and some proposals for the reform of the Roman Curia, with particular regard to Vatican Diplomacy.
