Abstract

The book revolves around the topic of diversity management in work organizations and is divided into two parts. The first reconstructs the state of the art in this field, by analyzing and critically discussing key issues and questions that have marked recent developments in the theory and practice of diversity management at the international level (e.g.: the connection with the logic of equal opportunities, the co-presence of ethical and competitive motives, the dialectic between the approaches of individual traits and of group identities, organizational initiatives and change processes, the problem of transferability of the original Anglo-Saxon models). The second part is devoted to an in-depth interpretation of the results of a qualitative research about practices of cross-cultural management – that is, the recognition, integration and valorization of ethnic and national differences in human resources - in a selected group of Italian organizations with a significant presence of immigrant personnel.
