Abstract
Cinema industry and tv industry (and literature, that nurtures both) have a central role in today's society: if they work, they are a powerful element of development of an entire economy, they can push forward a whole society in its complexity: surely they stimulate innovation, they influence the global image of a Country. The book analyzes the concrete process of ideation, development and realization of cinema and tv products in the biggest industry of the world, Hollywood, entering into its concrete practices, and analyzing also the mindset of its professionals and their culture. In the last two chapters the book analyzes: a) the inter-relation between cinema and tv fiction in America and in Italy, and the "ideological" story of American tv series; b) the very special and unique case of Pixar Animation Studios, the story of a "total outsider" that has been by far the most successful company in the whole history of cinema. The man who have been its leaders, their inspiration, their way of working, the very specific culture of the company is analyzed as an example to be followed.
