Abstract
Writing in a foreign language is undoubtedly the most challenging of the four linguistic skills, because it involves complex cognitive processes as well as a focus on content, genre and purpose. Learners do not simply produce sequences of words and sentences in the foreign language; they bring to the writing task a part of themselves in terms of their own culture and their personal experience of writing in general. Making writing a more creative, enjoyable and motivating activity is the key to getting learners to write more and more often, and the more they write, the better they will get at writing.
