Abstract
In the year of the celebrations of Constantine, it is important to better frame the famous Constantine turning in the longer process of Christianization of the Roman Empire. This historical turning point has been loaded of epochal importance by the later tradition as much as the figure of Constantine, the emperor isoapostolos, has been taken a posteriori as a symbol of the transition from the pagan empire to the Christian empire and consequently has been redesigned according a idealizing perspective. However, what really should be credited to Constantine is the transition from an attitude of observation of Christianity and Church from outside to a full and active involvement from inside.
