Abstract

The Tobin tax, an "old" policy indication, periodically comes to the fore of the economic policy debate, as a means to face new challenges. The offers a non-technical assessment of the old and the recent proposals of introducing the so-called Tobin Tax, with special reference to the European proposals to tax financial transactions.
