Ciò che resta del naufragio: Fondo e sprofondamento in Hans Blumenberg

This essay aims to analyse Hans Blumenberg’s writings in search of his concept of foundation (Grund). The first part\r\nof the essay will be concerned with his recently published major thesis and habilitation thesis, where the problem of\r\nfoundation is made explicit. We shall then see how the intertwining between metaphorology and lifeworld\r\n(Lebenswelt) brings forth a new understanding of the problem of foundation, and why, according to Blumenberg, an\r\n“ultimate foundation” is unreachable.
