Abstract
ABSTRACT. Addressing Climate Change Via Present and Future Generations’ Human Rights.
Short Notes on the Greta Thunberg et al. Petition to the CRC Committee
This short comment addresses the recent communication submitted to the CRC Committee by a
small group of young activists against climate change. The communication tackles the conduct of 5
States in particular (Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, and Turkey), accused not only of having
failed to prevent the negative pitfalls of climate change via the adoption and implementation of
short-sighted policies on carbon emission and fossil fuels, but also of having made things worse, by
perpetuating said conduct, hence violating the respondents’ right to life and health, as well as the
obligation to prioritize the best interests of the child and to protect indigenous groups’ young
members’ rights, obligations provided for under the 1989 UN Convention on the rights of the child
