Abstract

The paper compares the two major standards of the world: British and American English. After learning the main basics of phonetics and phonology, the student is taught the main phonological differences concerning British English, which is traditionally the main standard taught in Europe, and American English, which, nowadays, is the most widespread English variety of the world.
