Abstract
This article traces the history of the Italian school through the main developments in legislation from April 25, 1945 to the beginning of the new millennium, taking the Berlinguer Reform as its limit. In relation to the changing scientific-humanistic and pedagogical landscapes (nationally and internationally), without claiming to be exhaustive, it highlights key junctures in the evolution of our Country’s school system, relevant educational aspects, impact and possible repercussions on teaching and learning.
