BOARD GAME-BASED LEARNING: FROM COGNITIVE PROCESSES TO ASSESSMENT

Risultato della ricerca: Contributo in rivistaArticolo

Abstract

Board Game-Based Learning (bGBL) has gained increasing attention as an\r\ninnovative approach to foster active engagement and holistic cognitive\r\ndevelopment. However, integrating board games into effective practice is\r\nchallenging, partly because of the lack of an established instructional\r\nframework. By integrating Anderson & Krathwohl’s taxonomy into bGBL\r\ndesign, this contribution focuses on how specific game mechanics can\r\ntarget higher-order thinking skills, aligning gameplay dynamics with\r\nestablished instructional frameworks. This allows effective\r\nimplementation of bGBL strategies, in-game and around-game\r\nassessments, and real-time calibration of the learning process. These\r\nfindings indicate the potential of bGBL to advance pedagogical practices,\r\nsupporting teachers in creating immersive, evidence-based environments\r\nthat align cognitive objectives with meaningful evaluation.
