Aspetti funzionali e pragmatici nel pensiero linguistico di Philipp Wegener

The volume is divided into two parts. The first,entitled Aspetti funzionali e pragmatici nel pensiero linguistico di Philipp Wegener, discusses those aspects of Wegener’s linguistic thought which placed him among the forerunners of the modern pragmatic theory (e.g. the view of the language as action and interaction, the dialectics between form and function, the text informational organization in psychological subject and psychological predicate, the relationship between utterance and situation or context). Wegener’s main concepts are systematized according to thematic areas and discussed with reference to the coeval linguistic debate and to the following developments in linguistic theory. The second part of the work consists in the translation of some chapters of Wegener’s Untersuchungen über die Grundfragen des Sprachlebens related to the thematic areas focused on in the introduction essay.
