Abstract
This a partial edition of an unpublished essay about Luigi Pulci’s Morgante written by Antonello Gerbi in 1940 or 1941, when he was in Peru, as he had to escape the racial laws in Italy. The article reflects a crocian formulation and copes with some of the usual critical issues of that period. It was probably reconsidered at the middle of the Fifties as a possible introduction to Franca Ageno’s edition of the Morgante, but that idea was abandoned.
