The bronchial challenge with allergens induced in atopic asthmatics an increased response to a subsequent challenge with ultrasonically nebulized distilled water. This suggests the recruitment of cells activated by the hypoosmolar stimulus with the release of mediators and the final triggering of bronchoconstriction
