We describe the effect of referred alcohol consumption and symptoms of alcohol addiction on the respiratory function of a large group of travertine workers. The workers with the larger consumption reported more frequently asthma-like symptoms, while a low consumption was not associated with any functional or clinical respiratory adverse effect
