Abstract
Beyond the stereotyped image of Anacreon as the singer of wine and love, which we can find in Hellenistic epigrams and in iconography, there is a less conventional representation of the poet, deriving from Alexandrian exegesis: here Anacreon is seen as a good creator of metaphors and eccentric characters.
