Abstract
Status quaestionis on Trogus and Justin on the ground of several recent works and particularly of Dagmar Hofmann’s monograph; Justin’s place in late antique historiography, his relation to the Historia Augusta, his eventual African origin; the original title of Trogus’ work (Historiae Philippicae) and his limited use of translatio imperii theory; his relation to Cornelius Nepos and their common Gallic origin.
