Abstract
The word "parbār" is a "hapax legomenon" of 1 Chr 26:18, where appears twice. Whereas the first time, at the passage beginning, must be expunged as anomalous, the second, at the text end, is a singular case. It recalls the word "*parwār," which appears only at pl. ("parwārîm") in 2 Kgs 23:11. The 2 terms are in tight relation: a comparison with the interpretation of 1 Chr 26:18 in Ancient Versions (Targum, Peshitta, Vulgate) confirms that is happened a re-understanding of "parbār" meaning. So, from the original form "parpar" – probable loan of Persian, introduced in Hebrew with its variant "parbār" (1 Chr 26:18) – is derived "*parwār," which is later entered in 2 Kgs 23:11 in the course of a of its various reworkings. So "parbār" is a neologism, and "*parwār" is one its orthographic variant. Therefore it is a matter of one word with 2 different spellings, by which it is defined “an apart place, delimited by a columned.”
