Abstract
The paper analyzes the complexity of the so called "Question of Constantine" in the contemporary historiography. The Autor focuses on both the historiographical perspective and the ecclesiastical point of wiew. The progressive development of Christianity over the centuries changed the stereotypes om the Christian emperor and this had obviously strong consequences on the debate about the relationship between Christianity and the Roman Empire.
