Abstract
The author begins with the definition of basic and non-basic commodities given by Sraffa, then formalized by Carlo Felice Mannara and further elaborated by Ian Steedman to demonstrate that the elaborations used to define basic commodities can be extended to the general framework of joint production by using those simple rules and properties which exist for the production of single commodities.
