Abstract

Results are given of 2 experiments comparing courgette yields in tunnels and in the open field. Aphid control was with pyrethrum and rotenone in the organic, and with imidacloprid in the conventional crop. Yields from both methods were very similar; in test A cultivars Afrodite and Xsara gave the best yield in the tunnel (40-43 t/ha) while cv. Supremo yielded best (56 t/ha) in the field. In test B cv. Altea yielded 23.8 t/ha when grown organically and 24.5 t/ha with conventional management.
