Abstract

[Autom. eng. transl.] With Covid-19, humanity has rediscovered itself vulnerable. We woke up suddenly, disbanded, like a ship without a rudder. When at sea, crew survival is the key to the efficiency of the "ship-system". On the contrary, we are the weak link in the chains of global interdependence: chains of information, data, money, goods and even people. But chains designed for things and not for people. Humanity must use the opportunity of the pandemic to rethink its navigation and its route. Is American world hegemony fading, or will Trump's defeat relaunch the United States? Will China, from which the virus has spread, surpass the West and become the new model of reference? Could the great turning point of the "Recovery fund" become the driving force for a real transformation of the European Union? Will the weakest pay the social consequences of the pandemic, or will we be able to respond to the shock in the name of fairness and environmental sustainability? Will democracy be able to survive the risk of a new authoritarianism by finding a more balanced relationship between politics and economics? The volume guides us into the future, accompanying us through the possible scenarios of world politics. The post-pandemic could fuel widespread resentment, or rekindle a new hope. We could find ourselves in a climate of Restoration, or in a new Renaissance. This is why we have a duty to get involved so that the reconstruction that awaits us is comparable to that of the post-war period, not only in its material and economic dimension, but also in its political and spiritual one.
