Abstract
[Autom. eng. transl.] This article aims to critically discuss the arguments developed by the Belgian intellectual David Van Reybrouck in his text Against the elections and in particular the underlying assumption of the discourse, according to which "voting is no longer democratic". In the following pages the interpretation of the different causes of the «crisis» of representative democracy proposed by Van Reyboruck will be considered and some problematic elements will be highlighted, relating precisely to the 'insufficiency' of the electoral channel in guaranteeing the democracy of Western political systems . The objective of this article is indeed to highlight how the "crisis" of Western democracies does not simply stem from the weak legitimacy guaranteed by the representative-elective system.
