[Autom. eng. transl.] The implementation of integrated production as a basic reference for the entire agricultural sector, as required by the European Directive on the sustainable use of pesticides (2009/128 / EC) which will come into force in January 2014, involves a complex decision-making process for winemakers , who will have to take advantage of detailed and updated information on the situation in the vineyard, on the risk of diseases and parasites, on the characteristics of plant protection products for defense and on their limitations. The decision support system (in English Decision Support Sistem, DSS) vite.net®, developed by Horta srl (www.horta-srl.com) within the European project MoDeM (www.modem-ivm.eu), aims to help winemakers manage the vineyard. In particular, vite.net® is based on (i) an agrometeorological network, (ii) a repository server capable of storing data and weather forecasts, agronomic and operational information (such as the treatment register) relating to each specific vineyard, (iii) a set of mathematical models that use the data collected to generate useful information for the tactical management of chemical treatments. Vite.net® provides the meteorological data recorded with hourly and 3-day forecasts on the geographical point of each station, simulates the development of the plant, the dynamics of primary and secondary infections of blight and mal white, the optimal dose of fungicides from distribute according to the risk of infection, the development phase of the plant and the residual coverage of previous treatments. The combination of all this information allows operators to intervene at the most opportune time, with the most suitable product and avoiding waste and overdosing. Vite.net®, after a demonstration phase in conventional and organic vineyards, is now used commercially on about 2800 hectares in the most suitable Italian wine-growing areas
