Abstract

The thesis of the essay is that whole our existence is woven of rationality ad feelings that substantiate the pedagogical ethics. The emotional life was excluded from the education visible knowledge, because it was considered disturbing and potentially dangerous, if not subjected to the dominion of the ratio. A true human education retrieves the value of the link between thinking and feeling, overcoming the dichotomies mind-heart, logos-pathos, objectivity-subjectivity that led to the primacy of the "calculative thinking." The recent researches about the emotional intelligence and the discoveries made by neuroscience confirm this link. Emotional competence is therefore a primary professional competence in education. To educate the feelings it is necessary: listen to them, name them, understand them, accept them, share them, taking responsibility for the resulting behaviour.
